Black Friday or Boxing Day? When to Buy Socks 2026
If the socks are a Christmas present, buy them in the Black Friday sales; if they are for you, Boxing Day can be just as good. That is the whole answer for most people. Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November in 2026, early enough for a parcel to reach anywhere in Australia before Christmas. Boxing Day is 26 December, the day after the present was needed.
The less obvious part is that the two sales are not as different on price as the marketing suggests. When CHOICE surveyed 1,047 Australians in 2021, only 24% agreed that Black Friday offers better discounts than Boxing Day. What separates them for a sock buyer is timing, stock and returns, and those are set out below, along with exactly what our own Black Friday sale includes this year.

When are the 2026 sales?
The big sale days fall across November, and the one that matters most for Christmas presents is the last day you can post a parcel.

Black Friday vs Boxing Day for socks
For socks the comparison comes down to four things, and price is only one of them.

The Christmas row is the one that decides it for gifts. A Christmas sock bought on Boxing Day is a sock for December 2027. Sizes matter too: popular sizes in a print go first, and a one size sock is only one size, so if the right one has gone there is nothing else to pick.
If you are buying plain everyday socks for yourself and you are not in a hurry, Boxing Day is a reasonable time to stock up. Whether it beats Black Friday depends on the store, and the honest way to find out is to note the price of the pair you want now and compare it on the day.
TipSoxx Black Friday sale 2026: what is included
Our Black Friday sale runs from the start of Sunday 1 November to the end of Tuesday 1 December 2026, Canberra time, with two offers.
- Sale styles at $9.99. Everything in our Sale collection is $9.99 a pair from 1 November to 1 December. Where a style was selling for more before 1 November, the product page shows that earlier price crossed out. The 11 styles that were already $9.99 show no crossed-out price.
- Buy 2, save 20% on every pair. Any two or more pairs, including the Christmas range, kids' socks and the $9.99 Sale styles, get 20% off at checkout. You do not need a code. It does not apply to gift cards and cannot be combined with other discount codes.
For the month, the Buy 2 offer replaces our usual Build a Pack deal of 20% off four or more pairs. If you were going to buy four pairs anyway you still get 20% off; you now get it from the second pair.
One thing to know before you browse: the Sale collection is women's styles, mostly crew and quarter socks. For men, the Buy 2 discount on the Christmas and everyday ranges is the saving.

Free standard shipping applies on orders over $69 under our shipping policy; orders under $69 pay $11 for standard shipping. A single pair is not discounted, so one $9.99 Sale pair with postage comes to $20.99.
The last two rows are there because postage is the cost people forget. Two Sale pairs come to $15.98, but $26.98 once $11 standard shipping is added, so postage costs more than the discount saves. If you are buying for several people, putting it all in one order over $69 removes the $11 as well.
How to tell a real Black Friday discount
Look at what the price was before the sale, not at the percentage. Australia's consumer regulator, the ACCC, said after its 2024 Black Friday sweep that it compares prices before, during and after sales to check whether prices were raised to make discounts look bigger, and that it had found products advertised "on sale" at their normal price. Its December 2024 findings list the patterns to watch for.

We have tried to make our own offer pass that check. The Buy 2 discount applies to every pair of socks on the site; the only thing it does not apply to is the gift card. On the Sale styles, the crossed-out price is the price that style was selling at before 1 November. On 23 October 2026, 35 of the 52 in-stock Sale styles were at $14.99 or $12.99, 6 were at $10.99 to $18.99, and 11 were already at $9.99. Those 11 get the Buy 2 discount but no further markdown, so they show no crossed-out price.

When to order for Christmas
Order by Tuesday 15 December for standard shipping and Wednesday 16 December for express if the parcel is going to NSW, the ACT, Victoria, Queensland or South Australia, by Monday 14 December for Tasmania, and by Thursday 10 December for Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Those dates are our estimate, not a guarantee: for the eastern states and SA they come from our dispatch time of 1 to 2 business days from Canberra and the delivery times in our shipping policy, and for WA, the NT and Tasmania from Australia Post's 2026 Christmas cut-offs plus our processing time. All of those dates fall after our sale ends on 1 December, so anyone buying during the sale has at least nine days' margin.
Buying socks as a Christmas present in the sale
Two things to settle before you add anything to the cart. The first is size. Our women's Christmas crews are mostly one size, for a foot of 22 to 26 cm, and the men's and unisex crews come in EU 39 to 42 and EU 43 to 46; what size socks do I need explains how to measure if you can borrow a shoe.
The second is returns. During the sale, the $9.99 Sale styles cannot be returned or exchanged just because you changed your mind or picked the wrong size. Other pairs, including Christmas socks bought with Buy 2, save 20%, keep our usual 30-day change-of-mind returns under our refund policy. None of this affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law: if a pair is faulty, damaged or not as described, sale or not, you can get a refund, replacement or repair as the law provides. Questions we get asked
When is Black Friday 2026 in Australia? Friday 27 November 2026, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. Many Australian retailers start their Black Friday offers earlier in the week, and ours runs for the whole of November.
Is Boxing Day cheaper than Black Friday? Not reliably either way. In a CHOICE survey from June 2021, only 24% of Australians agreed Black Friday has better discounts than Boxing Day. Compare the price of the specific item rather than the headline percentage.
Should I buy Christmas presents on Black Friday or Boxing Day? Black Friday. Boxing Day is after Christmas, so anything bought then is for next year.
Does the Buy 2 discount apply to Christmas socks? Yes. During our sale, from 1 November to 1 December 2026, any two or more pairs get 20% off, including the Christmas range, kids' socks and the $9.99 Sale styles. Gift cards are not included.
Can I use the Build a Pack 20% off as well? No. For the sale month, Buy 2, save 20% replaces Build a Pack. Four or more pairs still get 20% off.
Can I return socks bought in the Black Friday sale? The $9.99 Sale styles cannot be returned for a change of mind. Other pairs bought in the sale, including with Buy 2, save 20%, keep our usual 30-day change-of-mind returns. Whatever you bought, if it is faulty, damaged or not as described, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply, including a refund, replacement or repair.
